Flying Information

PPR by telephone is essential, and gives visiting pilots the chance to obtain joining instructions, to avoid disturbing the local population.

Great Oakley has an A/G Radio frequency 123.20. Visiting pilots should make a call to make their presence known to other airfield users. In the absence of a response, continue to make blind calls whilst landing. Circuits 04 and 09 Left Hand
            22 and 27 Right Hand

Joining should be overhead, the village of Great Oakley, and outlying properties should be avoided.

Approaches are straightforward- the only obstruction is an electricity wire 300 metres out from the threshold of Runway 22.

The runway 09/27 has a fall for the final 70 metres at each end which should be considered as over run. There is a dip towards the middle of the runway length, which may be used to advantage once known. To put it in context, the total height variation along the runway length is of the order of 4 metres.
